Litters at Etude Somalis

We do not currently have any available babies, although we do have several litters on the way. If you are interested in getting a kitten from us, we do have a fairly long waiting list, so you should contact us about getting on the list. Please contact us at if you are interested in learning more about our cats and kittens.

Etude Freya
Litter
Born:
February 9th
2009

Etude Blue Rondo a la Turk
This is an outcross litter we're making to improve the genetic diversity and type in our silver somalis. In many ways, this litter is one of our dream litters. Freya and Rondo are the two cats in our program who best capture "THE LOOK" we want to get in the silvers. Unfortunately Freya has never given us a baby that has her type. Last year Rondo fathered a very promising kitten (Dusty) when bred to Snowflake. Freya gave us pretty close to what we expected stastically, four kittens, one ruddy boy, one black silver boy, one blue silver boy and a blue silver girl. At this point, one of Freya's babies (a black silver boy) is being offered to people on our waiting list. The remaining kittens have gone on to their new homes.

Etude Flocons de Niege
Litter
Born:
February 8th
2009

RW, QGC Etude Felix Nameque
We bred Flakey to Felix, Felix has very nice type, Flakey, has the best coat and color in our house. We're hoping it all comes together in this litter and we get nice clear typey kittens. Flakey gave birth to five lovely kittens, all black silver as expected. Four girls and one boy. We're going to watch and see how these kittens develop. We might keep one, or they might all be offered to people on our waiting list.

Pirouette Ballet Blanc of Etude
Litter
Born:
March 16th
2009

RW, QGC Etude Felix Nameque
This is a repeat breeding. In the first litter, Blanca only gave us a single boy, and although he was all that we wanted out of this cross, he was a boy. We really want a girl out of Blanca, so although we really liked the boy, we sent him off to a wonderful home and now we're hoping Blanca will be a little more bountiful on this litter..... And indeed she was more bountiful, although she only gave us one girl. Blanca had four lovely kittens, two blue silver boys, a black silver boy and a black silver girl. One blue silver boy is being evaluated for use in a breeding program, the rest of these kittens have already been reserved by people on our waiting list.

CH Etude Rhapsody in Blue
Litter
Born:
June 14,
2009

GC, RW Tamarakatz Chasing A Dream
Rhapsody went back up to Washington and paid a visit to Tamarakatz cattery only this time to visit with Chase. Since Rhapsody is a Blue carrying red and Chase is a Red carrying dilute, we had a shot at a rainbow litter here, and indeed Rhapsody came through for us. We got five lovely kittens, a ruddy girl, a red girl, a blue girl, a blue boy and a fawn boy. All of these kittens are being evaluated as either breeding or show cats. Some of them may be offered as pets to people on our waiting list.

Joylincar Jazz it Up of Etude
Litter
Due:
July,
2009

CH Etude Blue Rondo a la Turk
Jazzy will give us our next litter at Etude Somalis. She comes from a line of cats that produce large litters, and early indications are that she also is going to have a lot of babies. Rondo doesn't carry cinnamon, so if Jazzy doesn't carry dilute (we don't think she does, but there is a small chance she might), then we'll get all ruddy kittens. If she does carry dilute, we'll get both blue and ruddy somali babies. Check back in July to see what the kitten fairly leaves behind.
