Dushara Rusalka of Etude

Rusalka was the foundation queen for our cattery. She was imported from Dushara Somalis in Denmark. Rusalka is a big girl with a nice face, and good clarity. She was an excellent mother, nursed and groomed her own as well as other cat's kittens, and we got a several very nice litters from her before placing her as a pet.

DOB: May 13, 2005

Black Silver Somali Male

Sommer's name comes from the lyrics to an Edvard Grieg song. Sommer's father was Norwegian, and his breeder wanted to use Norwegian names. He came to us from Dushara Somalis in Denmark. Sommer had a wonderful coat and passed that on to many of his kittens.

Abymoon Tyko of Dushara

Black Silver Abysinian Male

Tyko is an Aby-variant imported from Abymoon Abyssinians in South Africa. He has quite nice type and a wonderful personality, but fairly extensive rufousing. Tyko was bred to our Freya, and sired a very nice boy for us "Felix Namque" before going to Denmark where he was part of the breeding program at Dushara Somalis.

Pirouette's Ballet Blanc of Etude

DOB: Sept 14, 2005

Blanca is a black silver Somali who came to us from Pirouette Somalis in southern California. She is proof positive that you can get quite clear silvers from non-silver parents, as her father is a regional winning blue somali. Blanca has great black ticking and nice clarity. She is very friendly cat with the same outgoing sunny personality that we love in her half sister, our fawn Grand PremierSteffi. After producing a number of very nice kittens, many of whom showed the same engaging personality, Blanca was placed in a pet home.

Ruddy Abyssinian Male

Sultan is a short haired Somali or Aby-variant. We named him after the Rimsky-Korsakov opera of almost the same name. He is a sweet goofy boy with great type, color and ticking. Sultan provided us with a lovely long-haired son (Zadok on our boys page) who replaced him in our breeding program.

DOB: May 2, 2007

Another Tarina kitten, Rhapsody replaced her mother in our breeding program. She is a lot like her mother (only bluer), a very busy, busy girl. She has a very cute little voice and as she grew up showed a snuggly side that wasn't super-apparent when she was a kitten. She also has rather more ruff than some of our girls, who tend toward the sleeker style. We were very hopefull about this line -Rhapsody's father had previouly been sire to a breed winner, but none Rhapsody's kittens had the color we'd have hoped for. We've placed her as a pet, and we still have some hope Rhapsody's brother and litter mate Rondo will come through in carrying the line forward.

Etude Flocons De Niege

DOB: June 18, 2007

Black Silver Somali Female

Snowflake (or Flakey) is named after The Ballet of the Snowflakes (Flocons de Niege) from Jacques Offenbach's operetta Voyage to the Moon. We chose Snowflake as her name because she had such a glorious kitten coat, a fluffy puffball of a kitten with a full ruff in sparkling white. She's extremely friendly and playful, always ready to pounce on anyone walking by.

Arpeggio The Blessing

We brought Lisa in as part of our outcross program, to increase genetic diversity and type in the Silver Somali. Lisa is a black silver Abyssinian with an absolutely lovely type, color and a loving personality, and she's given us a promising boy (Etude Winter Day Dreams). As it turned out, Arpeggio had a place for her in their breeding program, so she's gone back home.

Nocturne was from an outcross litter we made to increase type and genetic diversity in our silver somali lines: His father is our ruddy Aby-variant boy Sultan, his mother is Moonlight, one of our clearest silvers. Nocturne has a wonderful personality combining the sweet and snuggly quality of our silver lines, with the activity level of his Abyssinian father. He also has an unusual look; very rufoused in the face and chest but with the black silver ticking on his back- it's a very "wild" look, somewhat reminicent of the coloring of a timber wolf. Nocturne sired a very cute, and -so far- surprisingly clear girl for us, "Dreamie", and has gone to a great pet home.

Stradivaripuss Jupiter of Etude

DOB: December 9, 2008

Jupiter came to us from Stradivaripuss cattery in Salzburg, Austria. He has lovely type, excellent color, soft as silk fur and a lovely gentle personality. We've kept two of his offspring to date, Winter Dreams and Luna, both of whom got someting of his great skily coat and head type.
